Sailors tend to be more<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Superstition\"> superstitious<\/a>\u00a0than many of the population.<\/p>\n<p>In 1969, shortly before the Admiral&#8217;s Cup I was in London and a gypsy tried to give me some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottish-at-heart.com\/scottish-thistle.html\">Scottish Thistle<\/a> in front of Harrods. I ran in horror feeling that somehow this would jinks our efforts to win the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Admiral's_Cup\">Admiral&#8217;s Cup<\/a>.
