{"id":8525,"date":"2014-07-10T18:41:17","date_gmt":"2014-07-10T23:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephenlirakis.com\/?p=8525"},"modified":"2014-07-10T18:47:04","modified_gmt":"2014-07-10T23:47:04","slug":"luther-burbank-american-botanist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stephenlirakis.com\/?p=8525","title":{"rendered":"LUTHER BURBANK, AMERICAN BOTANIST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/parks.sonoma.net\/burbstory.html\">LUTHER BURBANK<\/a>\u00a0developed more than 800 varieties of plants, over 200 variety of fruits and vegetables. Born in Lancaster, Ma on March 7, 1849, moving to Santa Rosa, Ca in 1875 where he died April 11, 1926.<\/p>\n<p>I am descended from the Burbanks ( my maternal great-grandmother was a Burbank).<\/p>\n<p>Some of his creations were: the shasta daisy, the pink lady, spineless cactus, russet potato, seedless grapes, \u00a0and so many more.<\/p>\n<p>He sold the rights to the russet potato and with that money moved from Lancaster, Ma to Santa Rosa, Ca; where he continued his research and development until his death in 1926.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8531\"
