The drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco offers many options of scenery. Last year it was the 395 on the eastern side of the state. Of course the 1 along the coast. and the 101 ( camino real) which is relatively easy and scenic as well, finally the 5 which is the quickest.
We tend to prefer the 101, which takes us near some of the missions, the most beautiful and original being San Miguel.
A stop at Morro Bay to see the town, the rock and the sea lions, which if you don’t have to live with them are hilarious.

After quick stops at santa inez and san luis obispo, we got on a bus for a tour of Hearst Castle. It has been years of waiting for this to happen. I am pleased to have finally seen it. Julia Morgan’s hand is evident everywhere. In the house the individual elements brought from Europe are magnificent. The house left me underwhelmed. However, the swimming pool took my breath away.
HOLLYWOOD FOREVERPEACOCKS IN THE CEMETERYJOHNNY RAMONENO COMMENT
There is a new view at every turn in Los Angeles. I was stunned to see the number of people at the Griffith Observatory on a weeknight. It was a splendid Southland evening.
During the morning I visited Hollywood Forever; a curious cemetery with peacocks roaming the grounds. Perhaps that’s what celebrities want. It also has movie screenings where you can picnic while watching a movie in the cemetery. While there I was approached by security and told that I could only photograph celebrity graves. I wonder if our idea of celebrity were the same?
LA SIDEWALKHOLLYHOCK HOUSEHOLLYWOOD INNA KIND FACELAST DAY OF SCHOOLPRIZE DAYHULA DANCER
The theme for the last day of school party was hawaiian. I believe the top prize should go to the little hula dancer.
Los Angeles just keeps surprising me. For years we have talked about visiting Hollyhock house which unfortunately for us is closed for repairs . Good for the house of course. Having walked around the outside, for me, this house is much more livable than Ennis house. However I have not been in either.
