This past week the NYYC hosted the 2019 Invitational Cup in Newport, RI. 20 amateur teams racing the new IC37 class (designed by Mark Mills) over 4 days on Narragansett bay.

PLENTY OF WIND OVER 3 DAYS OF RACING IN NARRGANSETT BAY DURING THE NEW YORK YACHT CLUB ANNUAL REGATTA
ON APRIL 27 2019 AT 8 AM THE BRAYTON POINT COOLING TOWERS WERE IMPLODED. THE ENTIRE EVENT TOOK 10 SECONDS. THE CLOUD OF DUST WAS PUSHED UP THE RIVER BY THE WIND.
ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22 2019 TED TURNER PRESENTED THE NEW YORK YACHT CLUB WITH A FULL RIGGED MODEL OF “TENACIOUS” THE 61 FOOT S&S DESIGN IN WHICH TED WON THE FAMOUS 1979 FASTNET RACE.
TED AT 80 YEARS OLD IS SUFFERING FROM LEWY BODY DEMENTIA. EACH OF THESE REUNIONS ARE SPECIAL AS WE ARE BROUGHT TOGETHER WITH THOSE WITH WHOM WE SHARED SPECIAL MOMENTS.
We have come to expect a day in the winter like this. When the air is so cold it makes the water seem warm.
