FIRST, Isabelle, my daughter is a guest chef at the Revolving Door Restaurant on Thames Street in Newport.
Daylight savings is here. The lengthening daylight hours are uplifting to everyone. Yesterday the weather was warm and almost no wind, perfect for a road trip celebrating the sunshine.

I continue to be impressed with the possibilities modern video cameras and computers have allowed people to do.
An update of “Coronet” on New Year’s Eve. The framing is finished, the keelson is installed and the planking is underway. She is starting to look like a boat.
One can find them all over the world, abandoned ships; from star boats and lightnings; to schooners and square riggers. The legacy of the sea. Even the majestic “J” class could be found for years in the mud. The last Oracle IACC is to be broken up. “Independence” the 12 meter was cut up many years ago; as was Thomas Lawson’s “Independence” was launched in May and cut up in September.
I was there quite by accident; filling in for another photographer who could not make it to the party. The guests did their best to make me feel uncomfortable; with humor. It worked; for both sides of the camera. The harder they tried, the better the photo moments. My recollection was that it was billed as The Drag Queen Ball.

The Newport Bridge which opened in the summer of 1969 and changed forever the personalities of the towns of Jamestown and Newport.
In as much that one can now drive to or from newport at any time one wishes. It changed the pedestrian life forever. In the days of the ferry, one could walk on the ferry in Jamestown and walk off in downtown Newport. A peaceful and quiet integration that is forever lost.
The photograph of the ferry with the bridge in the background; I took leaving Newport on the yacht “Carina” for the start of the 1969 trans-atlantic race to Ireland. I returned to the bridge being open, the ferry gone and Woodstock having changed the world.
I have been trying to justify one of these. I see almost limitless possibilities.
