After a delay the race started, in reverse, the light wind plagued all and the race was shortened to meet the time limit finishing at beavertail. A fine day on the water.

I read with interest the windskate story on Scuttlebutt
I have attached photos of my son doing the same thing in 1989. We used different size rigs depending on the wind strength. There are not many new ideas.
The finish was closer than the time between “Dongfeng” and Abi Daubi” . After 5000 miles of leg 6 of the Volvo Ocean Race; 200 yards separated these two boats at the finish off Fort Adams.. The evening was perfect for the large crowd warm and clear with not much wind.
I have shovelled snow every day since January 30 of this year. I would guess I am not the only one.
It has been snowing virtually every day the last 10 days and it looks like that pattern will continue at least through washington’s birthday.
Today, it has snowed all day long. there was very little traffic or any activity of any kind. While shoveling I could hear the snow falling on the leaves of the bamboo.
This is footage from the 2011 race. Already so long ago. The Transatlantic race this summer from Newport RI to the Lizard in England. There will be 3 starts beginning in June, the last start in July for boats like “Comanche” and “Rambler”. I intend to sail with many old shipmates once again on “Snow Lion” belonging to Larry Huntington.

I am working on a book of photographs of the Newport Waterfront from the 60’s and 70’s. Today I walked the waterfront to the extent I could and took photographs from as close as I could to the spot where I had taken images all those years ago.
