MIDDLE SEA RACE 2009

The Middle Sea Race, one of the great 600 milers of ocean racing. I had the great pleasure of sailing in 2009. Bugs Baer chartered a 61 foot (Nix) boat for the race and called in many of his former crew.

Malta is a spectacular place. the race is a challenging one with many turning marks and the curious Mediterranean weather.

In 2009 74 boats started and 30 some either withdrew or sank the first night.

I assembled this a few years ago because even I forget some of the boats and events I sailed. Still fond memories; and still making more.

MALTA and the middle sea race

How do I reduce the image of Malta into a few photographs? .

I was here for the Middle Sea race ( see the blog of the race :http://www.tripsailor.com/blogs/2667-blog-rolex-middle-sea-race-2009) and had to try to stay focused on that. Even preparing the boat as the sun moved across the sky my impressions of Malta were ever changing.
I never was able to see more of the island country than going to and from the boat, which left me yearning to see and understand more.
