The Middle Sea Race, one of the great 600 milers of ocean racing. I had the great pleasure of sailing in 2009. Bugs Baer chartered a 61 foot (Nix) boat for the race and called in many of his former crew.
Malta is a spectacular place. the race is a challenging one with many turning marks and the curious Mediterranean weather.
In 2009 74 boats started and 30 some either withdrew or sank the first night.
I assembled this a few years ago because even I forget some of the boats and events I sailed. Still fond memories; and still making more.

Carravaggio fled to Malta in 1608. As everywhere he went, he left his mark. The collection of the Cathedral of St. John in Valletta of his paintings is one of the finest I have ever seen. In the last 25 years I have gone to every exhibit of Carravaggio I could; each with a tale of it’s own.
How do I reduce the image of Malta into a few photographs? .
